CORE OUTCOME PROJECTS

The aim of IMPROVED is to develop core outcome sets for skin diseases and conditions that can be treated by pharmacologic as well as non-pharmacologic interventions, particularly procedures or surgery.   Each outcome set is a separate project and is based on the CSG-COUSIN roadmap, as well as methodologic guidance put forth by COMET.

ROSACEA

Rosacea is a common condition affecting the facial skin and eyes.  Treatments include medications, behavioral changes, and non-pharmacologic interventions, such as lasers and light sources.

The etiology of rosacea remains poorly understood, slowing the development of effective treatments.  Additionally, the absence of a core outcome set for rosacea complicates efforts to compare results of the clinical trials that have been performed.   A core outcome set for treatment of rosacea may help uncover the relative benefits and harms of different treatment modalities as well as facilitate dose selection within modalities.
